Witches, demons, and serial killers–oh, my!
The Invocationswas a little more on the horror side than I am used to, but it was fast-paced, intriguing, and kept me rooting for the characters.
Zara is determined to find real magic in order to bring her dead sister back to life.
She meets June, daughter of a billionaire who proves that magic is real, but also reveals the dangers it invokes.
June is cursed by the magic she enacted recklessly.
They team up to find an experienced witch to help them with their problems.
When they meet Emer, it leads them into a dangerous bargain–help Emer find the serial killer who is killing her clients and she will help them create the invocations that they both desire.
This book was entertaining and immersive. It was on the darker side, but perfect for fans of magic and horror.
The friendship between the girls rings true and will appeal to both teens and adults.
