I’ve always been fascinated by professions and how we’ve come to have the jobs we have. Looking at professions that once were and are no longer is a fun way to spend an afternoon.

This book is masterfully illustrated by Michael Meister and the information is organized in the most entertaining way.

So many professions that no longer exist are presented from candle trimmers to herb strewers. The professions were necessary or thought to be at the time, but now have passed into obscurity.

This book was a huge hit in my middle school library since it had jobs like armpit hair plucker and fartist. I couldn’t keep it on the shelf.

This was a fascinating and often hilarious browsable nonfiction book that will delight readers of all ages.
