4.25⭐
The murder of rising star Lulu Wong breaks hearts in Chinatown, but the rest of the world seems content to blame it on the wrong man.
The Chow sisters, Gemma and May are determined to get justice for Lulu and try to save Chinatown from the railroad takeover.
But can two Chinese girls really make a difference?
I liked the mystery of this book and the time period.
It highlighted challenges faced by Asian Americans that are not often talked about.
It shows how Chinese Americans were forced out of Chinatown by the railroad and weren’t even allowed to vote.
The sisters are very resourceful and though they have unique personalities, it was sometimes hard to remember whose perspective I was reading without double-checking.
I would definitely recommend this book to teens who like mystery mixed with interesting events.
