I admit that Contemporary Book Club Fiction is not my favorite genre, but sometimes I find a book that hooks me right from the beginning.
Hello Beautiful by Ann Napolitano pulled me into the Padavano family and didn’t let go.
The story centers around four sisters who grow up fiercely loyal to one another.
When oldest sister Julia meets William, she is determined to shape him into the perfect boyfriend and husband.
William has never known love until meeting the Padavano family.
His own parents were distant and neglectful, due to the tragedy of losing a baby daughter.
His only solace growing up was basketball and the court is the only place he feels at home until he joins this chaotic, vibrant new family.
The parents Charlie, the dreamer and Rose, the planner;
Sylvie happy working at the library and kissing boys in the stacks while looking for an epic, once in a lifetime romance;
Cecelia, the family artist marching to her own drum;
and Emeline happy to take care of everyone.
Almost nothing could separate this close-knit family, but life happens and stubbornness in this family runs deep.
If you love family stories, do not miss this one.
Even if contemporary is not your preferred genre, I believe this story will keep you turning the pages to see what happens over two decades of love, loss, and acceptance.
After finishing the book, I was sad it was over and I could still feel the family energy, drama, regret, and most of all love as I closed it with a big contented sigh.
