The Enigma Affair starts off strong with a sniper attack on librarian Patton Harcourt who is just trying to do some morning baking.

You don’t know who to trust when a mysterious assassin named Nemo shows up and tells her he’s not the one who’s trying to kill her. As they flee, they become embroiled in a mystery that doesn’t seem to have anything to do with Patton’s past in military intelligence.

Now she has a dead friend, a mysterious message, and an adventure to find an enigma machine and solve the mystery. Oh and an assassin is tagging along with her.

They soon find themselves racing to Bletchley Park in England trying to decipher the message while being pursued by Ingrid Weiss, a white supremacist set on finding Heinrich Himmler’s secret research into alchemy. Weiss is determined to see the Nazi regime rise to power once more.

A meticulously researched, fast-paced adventure, The Enigma Affair will take you across Europe and across time searching for the secrets of the past. Definitely a five star read. Charlie Lovett is always a must-read for me.
