“They call us witches. We call ourselves Weyward”

Altha–1619–on trial for being a witch and accused of killing a man who was trampled by his own livestock.

Just because she was in the area and her best friend was being abused by this man doesn’t mean they can convict her, right?

Violet–1942–kept isolated by her father, wonders why he never talks about her deceased mother.

Violet was always told her mother died giving birth to her brother, but grows suspicious when her cousin visits.

Cousin Frederick remembers her mother’s strange moods and Violet’s father locking her upstairs for her own good.

Kate–2019–trying to escape her abusive partner, Simon, after discovering she is pregnant.

Kate never wanted a baby, because it meant being tied to Simon forever.

Can she stay hidden and what happens if he finds her?

Each member of the Weyward family has her own struggle with men who try to control them.

As they learn more about their family history and their power, will they be able to escape and live their lives free of male suppression?

I loved this book–my first 5 star read of 2025! This powerful story is relatable and relevant in today’s society. I highly recommend it for anyone interested in stories of strong women overcoming oppression.
