Garlic and the Vampire is a cozy, middle-grade, graphic novel that follows a little garlic girl who keeps messing up and disappointing the people she cares about. When Celery sees smoke coming from the abandoned castle on the hill, all the vegetable friends worry that is is a vampire. Witch Agnes is not sure what to do, and soon Garlic finds herself appointed to find out if the vampire has returned to the castle. What she finds surprises her and her vegetable friends.

Reading graphic novels can be a chore for me, because I have trouble following the story. Using the Libby app, it directed me frame by frame which made my reading experience much more enjoyable. I think I can try more graphic novels with this active reading feature.

If you like cozy books, then you will enjoy Garlic and the Vampire. I personally need more stakes in my reading adventures, but it was a cute story and middle grade kids will love it.
