Shea Collins is fascinated by true crime, perhaps because she was the victim of a crime as a child.
A crime that has left her afraid of the world.
Enter Beth Greer, a notorious figure possibly connected to the Lady Killer murders, and Shea jumps at the chance to interview her.
After spending time in Beth’s lonely mansion, Shea is spooked by the strange setting, a house frozen in time with its secrets and mysteries.
As Shea unravels the events leading up to the infamous murders, she realizes that some secrets take over your life and she might not be able to escape the web that is the Greer house.
This book is categorized as suspense thriller or mystery but there is a touch of horror, which I usually shy away from.
But I enjoyed the atmospheric setting, the twists and turns of the mystery, and the juxtaposition of the characters.
The parallels between Shea’s life and Beth’s–how they’ve both become trapped by the crimes they are associated with–were a fascinating part of the book.
I would recommend this to any mystery thriller enthusiasts. And it may just spur me to pick up another book with elements of horror.
